About r/forhire
r/forhire is a general marketplace: anyone can post work, and anyone can advertise their skills. Titles are tagged [Hiring] or [For Hire] with a matching flair, so the two kinds of post are easy to tell apart, and we skip the [For Hire] posts before reading anything.
The hiring posts cover a bit of everything: video editing, virtual assistants, marketing and outreach, quick paid errands, and the odd audio or 3D job. Almost all of it is freelance, and most posters ask you to send them a DM.
By the numbers
- 96%of the posts we read were hiring
- 68%of hiring posts named an amount
- $25/hrmedian pay, from 7 posts
- 13open jobs right now
Of the 23 posts we've read from r/forhire since October 2026, 22 were hiring. The others: 1 person offering their services without the tag. Posts tagged [For Hire] or [Offer] are skipped before we read anything, so they aren't counted.
The median is over posts that gave a US-dollar hourly rate. Small samples move a lot, so treat it as a rough guide.
Right now: 11 of the 13 open jobs name an amount, 6 are remote, and 2 carry a scam warning.

Before you apply here
- Most posts want a DM. Make the first message stand on its own: what you'd do, your rate, and one link to similar work.
- Posts here usually state a rate. If one doesn't, agree on it before you start, not after.
And everywhere on Reddit: read the whole post and its comments, and never pay to get a job. Our guide to Reddit job scams has the warning signs we see most.
