About r/HungryArtists

r/HungryArtists is a commissions board: people post what they want drawn, and artists reply. Hiring posts are tagged [Hiring], and nearly all of them name a budget, which makes it one of the easiest places to see what work like yours is paid.

Character art is the most common request. The rest are illustrations for books, comics and games, and personal commissions, with budgets from $40 to several thousand dollars. Some requests are NSFW; we don't list those on this page.

By the numbers

  • 93%of the posts we read were hiring
  • 100%of hiring posts named an amount
  • $225 per projectmedian pay, from 20 posts

Of the 27 posts we've read from r/HungryArtists since October 2026, 25 were hiring. The others: 2 posts of other kinds. Posts tagged [For Hire] or [Offer] are skipped before we read anything, so they aren't counted.

The median is over posts that gave a US-dollar price for the whole job. Small samples move a lot, so treat it as a rough guide.

Right now: 17 of the 17 open jobs name an amount, 0 are remote, and none carry a scam warning.
