About r/gameDevClassifieds

r/gameDevClassifieds is where indie game teams look for help. Flairs name both the pay and the role, like PAID - 2D Art or PAID - Programmer, and many titles carry a [PAID] tag. Unpaid and revenue-share collaborations get posted too; we don't list those.

Art dominates: most hiring posts are for 2D art and animation, then 3D modelling, programming and sound design. Most are freelance projects, but few state a budget, so expect to quote.

By the numbers

  • 67%of the posts we read were hiring
  • 24%of hiring posts named an amount
  • $450 per projectmedian pay, from 5 posts
  • 40open jobs right now

Of the 63 posts we've read from r/gameDevClassifieds since October 2026, 42 were hiring. The others: 9 questions or discussion posts, 5 people offering their services without the tag, 1 spam or promotional post, 5 unpaid collaborations and 1 post of another kind. Posts tagged [For Hire] or [Offer] are skipped before we read anything, so they aren't counted.

The median is over posts that gave a US-dollar price for the whole job. Small samples move a lot, so treat it as a rough guide.

Right now: 10 of the 40 open jobs name an amount, 3 are remote, and 2 carry a scam warning.

Before you apply here

  • Put a portfolio link in your first message. Many posts ask for one.
  • Quote per asset or per hour, and agree on revisions before you start.
  • Ask when you'll be paid (per asset, per milestone or on delivery) and who owns the work.

And everywhere on Reddit: read the whole post and its comments, and never pay to get a job. Our guide to Reddit job scams has the warning signs we see most.
